This generator produces sine waves that are specially processed to trigger brain waves.
There are two techniques available which can be combined and seamlessly transitioned between:
- Binaural tonesUsing headphones, two sinusoidal oscillations with slightly different frequencies are fed into the left and right ears. Strangely enough, this is perceived as a beat, even though the tones are not physically connected: there is no air that is caused to vibrate jointly by both sound sources. The brain now tends to resonate with this internally generated beat.
- Isochronic tonesHere, a single sine wave is simply modulated in volume to match the desired brain frequency, which also acts as a trigger. The advantage is that this also works with loudspeakers or in mono mode.
To make these tones sound more pleasant, overtones can be added. It is important, however, to calculate these for binaural tones in such a way that the difference in frequencies is maintained. The Neurotransformer does this automatically.
