Strobe

This generator produces a stroboscope that oscillates at the desired brain frequency and also displays colour gradients.

Stroboscopes have a strong effect on brainwave activity, as they stimulate the entire visual fields of the occipital lobe. Caution is therefore advised for conditions such as epilepsy or other forms of light sensitivity, as they may trigger a seizure.

The stroboscope generator has two modes:

 Graphics

The time curves of the various changing properties of the strobe generator

Various curves can be defined for:

Brain frequency

This describes the curve of the strobe’s oscillation frequency. For LCD displays, this should be below approximately 15 Hz. If using the master that also has higher frequencies, you can set a limit in the props above which the strobe is muted.

Hue

This determines the progression of the hues. All colours are available.

Luminance

The brightness ranges from 0% (very dark, black) to 100% (very bright, white). For pure colours, it is 50% in the middle.

Saturation

This ranges from 0% (no colour, just grey) to 100% (full colour, vivid).

Left/Right

In the lower half (less than 0.5), both eyes are illuminated synchronously; in the upper half (greater than 0.5), they are illuminated alternately.

 Properties

The special settings for the strobe generator

Name

A name for the generator. The default is ‘strobe’.

Balance

Stereo balance.

Master

Switch between controlling the brainwave frequency via the Master or via a custom profile specific to this generator.

Waveform

The strobe can be operated with various waveforms:
  • SineSmooth, natural progression.
  • SquareAbrupt transition, producing more pronounced geometric patterns.
  • TriangleA transition midway between sine and square wave.
  • Rising sawtoothRises steadily, then falls abruptly.
  • Sawtooth fallingRises abruptly, then falls steadily.

Screen or goggles

The strobe’s operating mode can be set here:
  • SpectraStrobe™ or AudioStrobe® goggles.
  • The display flickers when playing in strobe mode.

Full view

  • OnThe entire display flickers.
  • OffOnly two circles above the eyes are used.

Max. screen rate

Here, you can set a limit for the brain frequency, above which the stroboscope in the display is muted. This allows phases of disruptive interference to be automatically suppressed.
